About the event
Guest lecture with Ven. Thubten Chodron, abbess of Sravasti Abbey
Karma – the profound law of cause and effect – describes how each deed, each spoken word and each thought creates an unavoidable e ect. During our lifetime we collect uncountable lots of karmic imprints which leave their mark on our mind streams. The fruits of these deeds we reap either in this life or we experience their effects in future existences. The process of rebirth (reincarnation) keeps us imprisoned in the cycle of birth and death (samsara). But this cycle isn’t inescapable: by targeted beneficial actions we can break it. Ven. Thubten Chodron will demonstrate the processes and show us concrete ways how we can consciously move our life in a positive direction.
Some words about Ven. Thubten Chodron:
Ven. Thubten Chodron grew up in the USA and graduated with a BA in history and later post-graduated as a teacher. In 1975, she attended a meditation course given by Lama Thubten Yeshe and Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche and felt drawn to Buddhism. In 1977 she received novice ordination and in 1986 the full ordination (bhikshuni) in Taiwan. She founded the monastery Sravasti Abbey (in the state of Washington, USA), of which she is abbess. Ven. Thubten Chodron travels worldwide to teach the Dharma. Moreover, she is co-author with H.H. Dalai Lama of the ten-volume series of “The Library of Wisdom and Compassion”. By herself alone she published many books, many of them are translated also into German. We are very pleased and really looking forward to her teachings and the blessing she will bring to our center. Here in Berlin, it is a rare chance to meet her live. There will be a translation into German. Participation by Zoom will be possible. Further details of registration will follow. You are kindly asked to give a donation. Just to give you an idea, maybe 20€, but feel free to give as much as you can a ord. Nobody should hesitate to come because of money problems.
